I am off this week. Its one of those ‘my’ weeks. Nothing pressing, catching up on projects, sleeping in if I want to. If I feel like doing something, I do it. If not, I don’t regardless of what list may have made of various todos. You know, a vacation.
The better part of this week has been spent not accomplishing much of anything. I did scan another yearbook for an ongoing project of mine and am in the process of indexing another one besides. I’ve been working on my scrappy quilt #2. I have all 6 strips sewn and am working on the embroidery for the 3rd. I’ve been listening to some audio books while I sew, specifically Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth. Its the book for Oprah’s online thing that she has going on for the next 8 weeks. I like Tolle’s work. I find listening to his books very comforting.
I spent about an hour in the basement today, cleaning up a little. It had really gotten out of hand and I have been trying to spend a little time each week slowly getting it under control. While I was down there I cleaned out one side of my potting bench and installed a new bulb to warm things up. Into the 20oz cups I seeded some Florida Basket and Florida Petite Tomatoes I had left over from last year. I also started a cup of Siberia Tomatoes, a couple of cups of Spacemaster Cukes, some Black Eyed Susan vine and some Starbright Zinnias. I will start the bulk of the tomatoes on Apr 1. The ones I sowed today are the container toms and some cherries I will give away. I also repotted my black bamboo. I picked this up on ebay in 06. It was nothing more than a twig with a couple of inches of root. It has grown a lot since but of late hasn’t looked too happy. It has to stay inside over the winter as it is only hardy to about 20F. The stalks turn a lovely black as it ages. Last winter I kept it at work and this winter it stayed under the lights in the basement. Once it perks up this summer I’ll post a photo.
