A walk through the garden

I just love zinnias. So far they have escaped mildew.

dill

The dill seeds are forming. I planted this patch of mammoth dill last year and it came back from seed this spring.

garlic

My first official garlic harvest. Ok, my second but the first one didnt’ count. The heads aren’t the largest but I had just planted them this spring. I may try planting some this fall and see if I can get larger heads next year.

potential

A future strawberry.

swpeppers

Every year I dehydrate some red and green peppers. I make a spanish rice seasoning mix (tastes a lot like Rice A Roni) that uses dried peppers. I also use peppers to make relish, stuffed peppers and of course fresh eating. mmmm

Mammoth Dill

I’ve been harvesting the leaves for some time. I take the bottom few branches as they are bent but before they dry out. I lay them inside on a paper towel to dry and use it often. I love dill in my eggs and tuna salad. Last year I visited my Great Aunt Mallie in Oklahoma. In her garden stood a dill patch that had been there for some time. She gave me some to bring home. Unfortunately the seed wasn’t mature enough when we were there so I didn’t get my seed from her. Her dill was the same variety though. I planted mine in the corner of the garden where I hope it becomes a reoccuring resident too
