I was browsing the Net looking for a birdbath project and ran into this one. Basically you take a really large leaf (think elephant ears or something simliar), some sand and acrylic concrete patch and in the end you have a beautiful birdbath the shape of a leaf. I love this idea and do believe this is my next project.

I grew some elephant ears just to do this project. I have the concrete patch just need to get sand. I guess I better get this project done before the cold weather sets in and I have to dig out my elephant ears bulbs!!!!
Let me know how it turns out. I don’t have elephant ears but I do have a very large hosta that would work at probably about 1/2 to 2/3 size. I wonder if I have any friends locally with e.e. hmmmm. Must investigate.
I just wanted to say thank you for your blog. My family will be moving to KY as soon as our home sells and I was looking for some info on gardening in Ky and found your blog. I’m inspired! I am trying to be patient for our move… I’m sure I’ll have a huge want to do list after I read more. Thanks again.
I like that birdbath. In South Florida we have so many plants with large leaves and that one would blend in nicely.
