I believe it was the fall of 05 when I decided bird feeders outside the window behind my monitor was something that just had to happen. I had some left over 3/4″ copper pipe from the shower redo a few months prior and set out torch in hand. If I had to describe it I would have to say it looks like an old electric pole with the bottom ‘arm’ at a right angle to the top ‘arms’. It stands about 7′ tall and there is another smaller arm much lower to hold a saucer for a bird bath. The whole contraption sits atop a smaller piece of copper embedded in concrete. This allows me to turn it for filling the feeders or repositioning. It has a capacity of 6 feeders but I only have 3 currently. I have two for the finches, one sock and one tall feeder. There are usually a dozen or so of these little guys in the morning. The other feeder is filled with what I have on hand. I buy a lot of grains in bulk so as the variety changes so do the visitors. There are a pair of red headed wood peckers that frequent. I’ve also had doves, starlings, cardinals, chickadees, the occasionaly red winged blackbird and a few others I haven’t id’d yet. I had to add a squirrel baffle to keep feed in the misc feeder. Thats ok though as there is usually some spilled food that he quickly cleans up. I do enjoy watching the goings on outside as perhaps as much as my visitors enjoy their treats.
