They heard it was spring

A quick trip to the yard this morning left me in amazement. I swear when I checked things a couple of days ago most of it was still in it’s winter slumber. This morning there was growth everywhere I looked. Most of the willows have leaves as do the roses, kiwi, raspberries, currants, gooseberries, blueberries [...]

Cuttings…so far

March 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

The Brown Turkey fig and Arctic Kiwi cuttings I took several weeks ago are coming along nicely. No roots yet. The media is heated to about 70F and the basement is about 55F. The plastic covers keep the humidity in and the temps a little higher than the ambient air temp. As shown in the [...]

February 27th, 2007 · 7 Comments

Another year has come and the decision on whether or not to have a garden this year was one I pondered for the first time in a long time. As evidenced by the dearth of posts from the latter part of last season, my free time has been drastically curtailed. I’ve decided to cut back [...]

Blooms, some spots and where are all the pictures?

April 15th, 2006 · 2 Comments

The blueberries are a bloomin’. Normally it is a little colder when the blueberries bloom. Rarely do I see any honey bees out yet but the yearly visit from my lone bumble bee should be starting up any time now. She can often be seen doing her best to pollinate the blueberries. I do everything [...]

What a Sight to Behold…

March 12th, 2006 · No Comments

Yesterday I received the Brown Turkey fig and Northblue blueberries I ordered from Miller Nurseries. Since all were destined for containers that is where they went. Of course they came on one of THE rainiest days (weekends) we’ve had in a long time. So, there I am standing out in the pouring rain (thunder off [...]
