This is what 8 lbs of raspberries looks like right after picking. To be fair, I hadn’t picked one bed in over a week and the other hadn’t been picked since last Wed. Had I looked I could have picked more but I was hard pressed to get these in the freezer. And to think I started with 6 plants in each bed…

The raspberries look like they are growing on a groundcover. Correct???
The only ones I know are on long, gangly canes, and the roots travel 2 to 3 yards away, and send up new shoots. Rather annoying!
Your picture looks better.

Rose,
The canes that produce the berries are single stems that will get to about 6 feet tall. I corral them in 2 5′x12′ beds using 4 t-posts and heavy gauge fence wire at 2′ intervals around the 4 posts. Before they fruit the canes stand up on their own fine but once the tops are full of ripening fruit they would fall over without the support.
No the ground cover is just part of the garden that I have let go fallow. I mow it every so often. What you are seeing are nicely trimmed weeds.
