This past week has been spent trying to get things done before my surgery on Monday. Wednesday through half of Friday was pretty much shot thanks to another procedure this week. Needless to say my garden hasn’t had the attention it deserves. I knew going into this season that this would be the case so I am not sweating it too much. I do have to say that the tomatoes and beans are looking great thanks to a couple of doses of alfalfa tea early on. I sense some green tomatoes in the near future.

We finally had a couple of rains that were desperately needed. The barrels were filled once and I had used about 1/4 of the water when they filled again. I am going to like this setup.

Today I did some hoeing, transplanting and mulching to get things ready for the neglect over the next couple of weeks. I do have someone that can water the container items for me so while I will have a lot to do when I do get back out there nothing SHOULD suffer too much. I do hope I get to the gooseberries before the birds do. They will probably start to ripen next weekend or shortly thereafter.
