This evening after work I decided to empty out the small alfalfa tea barrel and give the tomatoes, peppers, a couple of roses and eggplant a feeding. About 15 minutes into it the following conversation occurred with my neighbor from way across the yard (we have no fences between the properties)
Neighbor: “Do you smell something bad?”
Me: “…Nooo.. what does it smell like?”
Neighbor: “Like a sewer…I hope my sewer isn’t backing up”
Me: (not wanting to admit to putting something so foul smelling in my garden while at the same time not wanting the neighbor worrying about her sewer) “Maybe its my fertilizer”
Neighbor: “Is it manure?”
Me: “No its alfalfa tea. The smell should disappear pretty quickly”
Needless to say the one rose near the property line didn’t get fertilized tonight. Trying to keep the peace.

hehe. Maybe you need to do some midnight fertilizing. Your neighbor might think you were weird, but at least the smell would fade before they could get out thee to smell it and you would still have lovely plant. It’s an even trade.
