I was inside fairly early and decided to go ahead and bottle some of the wine I started around the first of the year. I had 1 gallon jug of each – two meads (one with orange, cinnamon and vanilla and one a plain mead), raspberry and blackberry. The honey is some I have had since I took it from the hives several years back and the two berry wines are from berries I’ve grown and had frozen. I was very pleased with the taste of all of them which had greatly improved even since I racked them a couple of months ago. They were all ever so slightly sweet, and not over powering on the flavor or alcohol end of things. I had purchased some 1 liter cobalt flip top bottles and ended up getting 3 bottles of each with a little left over. I mixed the leftovers for the two berry wines and may use those in some recipes I have wanted to try. I added some of each of the berry wines to my vinegar jug for the homemade vinegar I’ve been tending over the last several months. The mead had a little left and the pic above is what is left of the glass I am treating myself to tonight. The rest of it went in the fridge and I will sip on it over the next few weeks. I am not a big wine drinker by any means and because of family history don’t want to get drunk or make it a daily occurrence but I do like an occasional glass of wine. It will be nice to know it came from my garden, fruits of my labor and such.
