I had the intention to till the garden when I got home but ended up putting it off till it gets even hotter (85!) tomorrow.
I dug some raspberry starts to give away on freecycle as well as some I put in pots that will be ready to give away next year. I potted up some Florida Basket (2pots) and Florida Petite (1pot) tomatoes with two to three plants per pot. The three pots went into the half barrel where the little Apricot tree lives. I may end up yanking that one out. It was hit pretty hard during the cold snap last month and always blooms too early to get any fruit out of it anyway.
On the way in to work this morning I stopped at a local Southern States Coop and picked up a bundle of 50 Porto Rico (yes that is spelled correctly) sweet potato starts. I ended up giving about half or more away at work. I just wanted enough to put into another half barrel. They are short vined bush types that are supposed to do well in small spaces. We shall see. I grew them in the garden a couple of years ago and they did great except for the mice taking a bite out of some of them while they were still in the ground. They are in the barrel. I may or may not get sweet potatoes out of them but the vines will be pretty draping down the side of the barrel.
I noticed the false indigo is blooming. I’ll try to get a pic tomorrow if I think of it.
