In the last 24 hours I received 4 of the 6 fruit trees I ordered for this year. These and a few multiplier onions are about the only things I am adding this year. I pretty much have everything I want to fool with up to this point.
Yesterday the nectarines from Stark were on my porch when I got home. This morning the two elderberry bushes from Miller were at the Post Office. Since the nectarines came planted in long plastic tube type pots they will stay there till this weekend. The elderberry were bareroot plants wrapped in shredded sassafras and plastic so they went into pots this evening. The nectarines and cherry will probably spend their lives in containers. The elderberries will go into the ground once I figure out where I want to put them. The ride home from the post office smelled so good with the moist sassafras in the package. Now I am waiting on the 2 North Star cherry I also ordered from Miller.
After potting up the elderberry I gathered dandelions for dandelion wine. I was only able to get half of what I needed so I will make this in two batches. It took quite a while to get the green off the flowers but well worth it if this stuff turns out to be any good.
I’m interested in growing multiplier onions. What types do you recommend? What suppliers do you recommend? I use onions extensively in my cooking and would love to be able to grow my own supply.

I have an unknown variety I picked up off ebay a year or so ago. I don’t have a clue what the variety is though. The first year I planted 12 or so and ended up with a bout 50 small to medium sized onions.
This year I have some Yellow Potato Onions on order from SESE http://www.southernexposure.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PONION They only deliver these in the fall. They really don’t take much care. I’ve planted them both in the fall and spring here in Ky and while the yield was a tad better with the fall planting I will do a spring planting again if necessary. The beauty of thse is that once you have a supply you have onions forever if you take care of them.
